Not only do we love watching our students gain confidence and succeed at The Actor’s Scene, but we also love to share their successes with the world! One alumni that has really caught our attention lately is Audrey Lynn Marie. Audrey took on the incredible character of Charlotte in the recent film, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”, as well as a commercial bookings and other notable works.
Audrey, thank you so much for taking the time to share your story with us! It’s always such a treat to interview a young actor who has such joy in what she is doing. Let’s start at the beginning, what made you want to become an actor?
Ever since I was really young I was always singing and dancing and creating costumes, and wanting people to watch what I created. My parents put me in an art school where I did theater when I was 5 and I LOVED being on stage. I wasn’t nervous or anything, I just felt like that is where I belonged. As I got older I still wanted to do more, so they added acting classes where I learned about TV and film and eventually I got an agent. After my first time on set, I knew for sure that I wanted to keep doing it.
That’s great! You’ve been doing this for several years now, what drives you to stick with acting?
I love everything about being on set and creating with other people. I love being able to meet new friends and develop new characters and walk in their shoes. I also love the feeling of accomplishment when you do book something after working so hard at it.
Do you have some favorite acting moments?
Working with Charlie Cox was amazing, as well as Matthew Lillard. I feel really blessed to be able to kind of kick off my career working with such talented actors! Also being able to portray Charlotte in FNAF was something I’ll never forget.
Those are incredible experiences, indeed! What is something that surprised you about working on a set?
One thing that surprised me is how much goes into each scene, and how many people are working together behind the scenes, to make it all happen. I get excited to see what everyone else is doing behind the scenes and I love being a part of the team that makes it all come together.
Yes! Teamwork on set is amazing to witness, but it can all be overwhelming when starting out. What is some of the greatest acting advice you have been given?
Celebrate every audition is a win, and then submit it and forget it! I also really like the advice that if you are nervous to meet someone at a callback or for the first time on set, to remember they already like you or you wouldn’t be there!
That’s terrific advice! Tell us Audrey, what makes you feel confident?
I feel confident when I get to set early, know my lines, and feel organized. It also makes me feel good when the director or someone else on set tells me I did a good job during a scene.
Do you have a dream project or role?
My absolute dream role would probably be to be a part of the Hunger Games movies. I was able to audition for the new one last year and I considered that a huge win! I would also love to do another scary movie like Scream, or a tv series, or a drama. I am interested in doing a wide range of different projects.
Oh yes! You’d be awesome in the Hunger Games movies! Now that you told us the best advice someone gave you, what advice would you give to other young actors just getting started?
Take different classes to see what you love: like theater, film/tv, improv- and have fun!! You never know where that could take you! If it is something you truly love then don’t give up because sometimes you hear more No’s than Yes’s along the way, but in the end it’s worth it. So many people say “rejection is redirection” and it’s true!
Perfect advice! Before we go, do you have any acting projects coming up?
I have a short film I worked on called 88.6 that will be going to festivals later this year. I also have 5-6 conventions (comic cons) on the books this year that I’m really excited about.
